Selena Quintanilla Perez (Spanish pronunciation; [se’lena kinta’nija ‘peres] April 16, 1971 - March 31, 1995), was an American Tejano singer. Selena was known as the "Queen Tejano music", her contributions in music and fashion have made her one of the most famous Mexican-American entertainers ever. Billboard magazine placed her third on their list of the "Greatest Latino Artists" basing their selection on Latin album releases and Latin songs charts. With regards to her style of dress the media referred to her as the Tejano Madonna. She is also among the most famous Latin musicians of all time .
